About Us

Highland Handmades is an internet-based fiber, yarn and spindle shop located in the Highlands of Maine.  Many of our colorways are inspired by the beauty of the Appalachian Mountains and the North Maine Woods, both of which surround our home.  Our fibers and yarns are dyed using Maine-produced dyes and are dried in the cool mountain air for much of the year.  Our spindles are made from locally and ethically harvested hardwoods and are handcrafted one at a time to enhance and display the wood’s natural beauty.
